Wellington’s headline-grabbing woes have frequently centered on wastewater failures, including high-profile plant breakdowns and severe coastal spills. Whanganui, however, has maintained strong compliance at its Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). A major Mowhanau UV Upgrade is moving toward construction in late October 2026, with four shortlisted Design & Build suppliers set to resolve current non-compliance with bacterial rules.
